The NICE App
Developing Character Before Convenience

The NICE app is a product of Colorful Acorn Parenting designed to emphasize CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT in an AI age. The Foundation Building Years (ages 4-12) are critical to teach children how to be respectful, use manners and know how to be relational.
Here is how it works:
NICE will connect with whatever AI Platform you currently use at home (i.e. ChatGPT, Gemini, Alexa, Siri, etc ...). Once connected, a child must use "Please" when giving a directive, the AI will reflect what they heard the child say and the directive is not unlocked until the child says, "Thank you." Each time a child completes the task, they receive a virtual "acorn" but if they use more advanced vocabulary (i.e. I would be grateful if ... or It would be really helpful if ...), they will automatically earn a Golden Acorn.
Parents and grandparents decide how their kids are rewarded according to how many acorns they receive.
Children earn acorns and golden acorns when:
-
They use "Please" and "Thank you" appropriately when asking for a directive;
-
They use proper table manners;
-
They can order appropriately at restaurants and outside of the house;
-
They execute all 3 steps of an apology;
-
They can use proper phone manners;
-
They can send an email to a teacher or other adult appropriately;
-
They can meet someone new using good eye contact, a strong voice and firm handshake;
-
They get a good report from their teacher or other adults.
NICE tallies up the acorns and notifies parents when the child is ready for their next reward. NICE has reward ideas already in place or parents can create their own!
NICE even has a family dinner game to engage conversations about manners and growing up.
